In the name of God, amen, I Samuel J. McCall of said State & County being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world deem it right & proper both as respects to myself & my family that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind Providence has blessed me, do therefore make this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking & annulling all others heretofore made by me.

 

Item First

I desire & direct that my body be buried in a decent manner suitable to my circumstances in life.

 

Item Second

I desire & direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executors hereinafter appointed.

 

Item Third

I give & bequeath & devise to my beloved wife Sarah McCall with whom I have lived in strictest quiet for seventeen years, forty six acres, more or less of lot of land no. one hundred & forty-seven in the 1st dist. of Wilcox County, situated & lying as follows, lying & being in the south-east corner of my fourth interest in said lot of land it including the buildings & improvements on said land, for & during her natural life & at her death, said land is to belong to my daughter Francis Catherine McCall, I also give & bequeath to my wife Sarah in like manner fifty acres of lot of land no. 148 situated & lying in the north-west corner of said lot, taking in the John McCall old place, also one hundred & sixty two acres of lot no. one hundred & fifty three situated as follows, commencing at the southwest corner of the said lot & then down the branch to the Hardy field, there due east to a large timber stump, then to the road to the original line. The above bequest I make to my wife Sarah during her natural life and at her death said land is to belong to my daughter Francis Catherine, now about eleven years of age, if she should be in life and if not, should she leave child or children the land to go to them, but if not living nor leaving any children it is to belong to my son & daughter John McCall & Elizabeth Roades & their children. I also direct that the annual rent & income of the said place to go my wife Sarah during her life for the support of the family. I also give & bequeath to my wife Sarah my whole stock of hogs during her life in care of my son John & at her death to belong to my said son John.

 

Item Fourth

I give to my wife Sarah the residue of my cattle with my oxen & cart & at her death to be equally divided between my three children, Elizabeth, John & Katie after selling the oxen and cart.

 

Item Fifth

I give & bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Rhoades and her children fifty six acres of land, more or less of lot no one hundred & forty seven it lying on the north side of my interest in said lot, also one hundred & sixty two acres of lot no. one hundred and fifty three being the center & through the middle of said lot adjoining the part given to my wife Sarah. I also give & bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth and her children one heifer with her increase marked upper square in one ear under slope & upper bit in the other.

 

Item 6th

I give & bequeath to my son John E. McCall forty six acres more or less of lot of land no. 147 lying south of his mothers part of his mothers part of said lot also one hundred & sixty two acres of lot no. 153 in the 1st dist of Wilcox County starting as follows, commencing at the corner and running the original line taking in all the old fields & the swamp from the tree to James K. Browns, then the line to go to the river, free from all charges or limitations whatever to his own proper use benefit & behoof forever in fee simple, I also give to my son John in like manner my mare named Martha six years old also in like manner I give to my son John my rifle.

 

If I sell or neglect to sell my mare named Lou, that my executors should sell her & place the proceeds as they see proper in paying my debts & if there any remaining to be divided equally between my three children.

 

Item Eight (note: no item seventh)

I give to my daughter Catherine one heifer & her increase, mark upper square in one ear under slope & upper bit in the other known as Francis Reid Heifer.

 

Item Nine

I leave my plantation tools of all kinds on hand with my buggy & growing crop & all provisions of all kinds on hand & all future rents in the hands of my wife Sarah for the use of the family, I also appoint my wife Sarah agent for my daughter Catherine.

 

Item Tenth

I hereby appoint & constitute Joseph Rhoads & my son John E. McCall executors of this my last Will & Testament.
