In the name
of God, amen, I George R. Reid Sr. of said State & County being of
advanced age & knowing that I must shortly depart from this world deem
it right & proper both as respects to myself & my family that I should
make a disposition of the property with which a kind Providence has
blessed me. I therefore make this my last Will & Testament hereby
revoking & annulling all others heretofore made by me.
Item First
I desire &
direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executors
hereinafter named as I am unwilling my creditors should be delayed of
their rights especially as there is no necessity for delay.
Item 2nd
I give &
devise to my wife Francis A. part of lot of land no. one hundred & forty
seven, lying in the first district of originally Irwin now Wilcox County
containing 245 acres on the west side of said lot during her natural
life & no longer hereby restricting my said wife Francis from selling
timber off of said parcel of land & only using timber for plantation
purposes.
Item 3rd
I give &
devise to my said wife all of my household & kitchen furniture excepting
my iron safe & writing desk, also I devise to my said wife all my stock
of hogs, also all the corn & bacon I may have at the time of my death,
also my farming tools, horses, cart & buggy, excepting my two horse
wagon, sugar mill & two (illegible word) during her natural life & at
her death all the furniture, stock of hogs plantation tools devised to
her, I direct to be sold by my executors hereinafter named & equally
divided among my ten children viz: Nancy, Susan, Marsha, Celia Ann,
Becky, May L. Sarah, Drury, George W. & S.B. Reid & my granddaughter
Jane Brown also I devise to my said wife one horse or mule as she may
choose during her life & these to be sold or equally divided as before
mentioned.
Item 4th
I devise to
my said wife all of a certain stock of cattle marked swallow fork under
& over bit in one ear & upper square on the other & branded thus (brand
drawn) without reserve to dispose of as she may think proper.
Item 5th
I give & devise to my son G.W. Reid, this lots & parcels of land viz:
lots nos. 145, 146, & at the death of my wife, 245 acres of lot no 147
all being in the first district of originally Irwin now Wilcox County &
State of Georgia, also I give to my said son Geo. W. my old Bible
Item 6th
I give to
my son Drury Reid my iron safe.
Item 7th
I give to
J.W. Mashburn my writing desk.
Item 8th
I give to
my son S.B. Reid my new bible.
Item 9th
I direct my
executors hereinafter named to divide All the remainder of my property
both real & perishable equally amongst my ten children heretofore named
& my granddaughter Jane Brown by sale of otherwise.
Item 10th
I
constitute & appoint Drury Reid, Samuel B. Reid & James W. Mashburn
executors of this my last will & testament hereby revoking all others
made by me.

witnesses to the last will & testament of George R. Reid as deceased of
said County & after being duly sworn deposeth & saith that the said
George R. Reid was of sound & disposing mind & memory at the time of the
execution of said Will & that he executed the said Will & at his special
request that each of us in his presence & in the presence of each other
sign the said will as witnesses.
